"One of the greatest things in human life is the ability to make plans. Even if they never come true - the joy of anticipation is irrevocably yours. That way one can live many more than just one life."

We've been thinking....

Last weekend we spent painting my in-law's beach cabin. This gave us time to talk about various things and we got on the topic of our Ireland trip. This helped up come to the conclusion that...

1 - we really do want to go in May, and

2 - if we Doug can get permission from work to take two weeks in a row, using vacation and personal days, this coming May, we should go ahead and do it.

This will mean Doug missing most or all of Family Camp and smashing Ireland between business trips. However, we decided that if certain necessary things fall into place to allow us to go in May, we should go ahead. If we postpone a whole year, who knows what will come up? If we plan for next May, we at least know that no one in our immediate family is having a baby, graduating, getting married or any other major milestone we can't miss. I, for one, could never enjoy a trip if I thought Kathy or Michelle were sitting at home getting ready to give birth any day. I wouldn't enjoy myself.  2012 is far enough away that pretty much anything could come up between now and then to make us postpone our trip indefinitely.

So,better to go next May, even with the inconveniences, than to wait another year and possibly have to keep postponing because life gets in the way. Work circumstance may still require that we do this, but at least we've decided that if possible, we'll go in May.

I better get planning - that's only 8 months away!!
